Daniel reveals the History of the world
Shortly after Daniel and others had been taken captive to Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar. The King had an amazing dream. Nebuchadnezzar desired help to understand his dream. So he called upon all the wise men in Babylon, the magicians, astrologers, and sorcerers with the hope that they could show him the dream and the interpretation thereof.
Much to the disappointment of the King none could show him his dream. The King was wroth and wanted to have these wise men destroyed. There was a servant who did glorify the true God of heaven in all his deeds. This man asked and was given the Revelation by the true God he trusted.
These prophecies in scripture outline empires that have impacted God's chosen people for centuries right down to the end of time. And also reveal to us the History of the world. If you are searching for wisdom, ask it from the father and it will be given freely. [Matt 7:7, James 1:5]. This is a basic outline of the history of the world and is also a beginning to the understanding of scores of other great mysteries of the bible.
1. What book did Jesus say we are to understand?
Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by DANIEL THE PROPHET, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him UNDERSTAND:

2. Is it possible to understand prophecy?
2Pe 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
Note: Understanding prophecy is vital that we can take heed.
3. What happened to Nebuchadnezzar?
Dan 2:1 And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed DREAMS, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep broke from him.
4. Who could reveal the dream to Nebuchadnezzar?
Dan 2:28 But there is a GOD in heaven that REVEALETH secrets...........................
Note: God is a revealer of secrets.
5. Nebuchadnezzar wanted his dream interpeted who did he ask to reveal the dream?
Dan 2:2 Then the king commanded to call the MAGICIANS, and the ASTROLOGERS, and the SORCERERS, and the CHALDEANS, for to show the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.
6. Could these men show the King his dream?
NO
Daniel 2:6-12 But if ye show the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honor: therefore show me the dream, and the interpretation thereof. They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation of it. The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me. But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can show me the interpretation thereof. The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can show the king's matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean. And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can show it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh. For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.
Note: The King thought these men were being evasive in answering him. So the king was angry and wanted all the wise men destroyed.
Then what did Daniel ask from the king.
Dan 2:16 Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him TIME, and that he would show the king the INTERPETATION.
Note: Daniel then gathered his friends and they went home and prayed to the God of heaven for understanding. Their faith was strong, and they knew the Lord would give them wisdom concerning the matter.
8. Who did Daniel praise and why?
Dan 2:19-22 Then was the secret WAS REVEALED unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel BLESSED the God of heaven. Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God forever and ever: for WISDOM and MIGHT are his: And he changeth the times and the seasons: he REMOVETH kings, and SETTETH up kings: he giveth WISDOM unto the wise, and KNOWLEDGE to them that know understanding: He revealeth the DEEP and SECRET things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
Note: Daniel praised God who had made known the dream to him in a night vision. Daniel had glorified God, and God gives knowlege to those who love him. The father shows his servants all things. [John 16:13-15]
9. What were Daniels desires after God showed him the vision?
Dan 2:24 Therefore Daniel went in unto Arioch, whom the king had ordained to destroy the wise men of Babylon: he went and said thus unto him; Destroy NOT the wise men of Babylon: BRING me in BEFORE the king, and I will show unto the king the interpretation.
Note: Daniel went to Arioch immediately, telling him "Don't destroy these men." And Daniel was 
brought into the King immediately. [v25]
10. Who did Daniel tell the King would answer his dream? And what time frame was the dream to reveal to.
Dan 2:27-28 Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded CANNOT the wise men, the ASTROLOGERS, the magicians, the soothsayers, show unto the king; But there is a GOD IN HEAVEN that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the LATTER DAYS Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;
Note: Daniel gives all glory to God who can reveal these secrets. The dream is to a prophecy that was to reach down to the last days or latter days.
11. What did Daniel tell Nebuchadnezzar he had seen in this dream?
Dan 2:31-34 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great IMAGE. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was TERRIBLE. This image's head was of fine GOLD, his breast and his arms of SILVER, his belly and his thighs of BRASS, His legs of IRON, his feet part of IRON and part of CLAY. Thou sawest till that a STONE was cut out without hands, which SMOTE the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and broke them to pieces.
Note: Daniel saw a great image with a body, and all the parts of that body made of a different minerals. Each mineral inferior to each other. And then a stone which came and hit the image braking it into pieces. Nebuchadnezzar had just had his dream revealed and he was now anxiously wondering what this dream meant.
Important note: In explaining prophecy the bible is the source of all explanation. It is called the "Word of God"[John 1:1]. That word also became a living being. And to all who do his will, those ones he reveals his secrets too.(John 7:17) When we trust in the Word of God it gives us more understanding and faith in him. Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
12. Who is this head of Gold?
Dan 2:37-38 Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. And 
wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. THOU art this head of Gold.
Note: God declared Babylon to be this head of gold through Daniel his prophet. Daniel chapter 5 speaks of a son of Nebuchadnezzar having a royal party mixing the sacred vessels of God with the worldliness of Babylon. That night Babylon fell. Gold was also know as the medium of Babylon. Nebuchadnezzars kingdom ruled the world from 605-538 B.C.
13. Would Babylon ever be inhabited again?
Isa 13:19-20 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God OVERTHREW Sodom and Gomorrah. It shall never be INHABITED, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.
Note: Saddam Hussein wanted to disprove the prophecy by rebuilding the front entrance. God intervened in the way of Desert Storm in 1991.
14. What would be the Kingdom that prededed Babylon?
Dan 2:39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom INFERIOR to thee.
Dan 5:28 PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the MEDES and PERSIANS.
Note: The inferior Kingdom, which was the arms and breasts of silver. Was the Medes and Persians. In 538 Cyrus conquered Babylon by drying up the Euphrates river. Isaiah prophecied this man 150 years before he was born [Isaiah 45:1]. They conquered Babylon in 538 B.C. And reduced it to ruins. The Medes and Persians ruled the world from 538-331 BC.
15. What was the next Kingdom to rule the world?
Daniel 2:39.......and another THIRD kingdom of BRASS, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
Note: In 331 In the battle of Arbela Alexander the great conquered the Medes and Persians. Alexander went on to conquer the then known world. But he never conquered himself. Alexander died at the age of 33 due to Alcholism. His generals battled it out until another world empire came on the scene. The Grecian Kingdom was known for there Brazen armour because it was made out of brass. The Greek Kingdom ruled the world till about 168 BC. This battle between Greece and Medo Persia is also mentioned in Daniel 8. [Daniel 8:20-21]
16. What would be the Kingdom to follow the Grecian Kingdom?
Dan 2:40 And the FOURTH kingdom shall be strong as IRON:
The next great kingdom that followed Greece was Rome. Also know as the Iron monarchy. There armour was made of Iron. They ruled the earth till the mid 4th century. This Kindom ruled the earth past the time Jesus was born. The Roman kingdom ruled from 168 BC-476AD. Daniel had just given 1000 years of earths history. Is it possible for a man to foretell all of this without divine intervention?
17. What did Daniel say would happen with the Roman monarchy?
Dan 2:41-42...... the kingdom shall be DIVIDED; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with
miry clay. And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
Note: The Kingdom was to be divided. Rome didn't fall in a day. It did divid over several years. Out of the same geography came 10 divisions.
The Ostrogoths, Visigoths, Franks, Vandals, Alemannians, Sueves, Anglo-Saxons, Heruls, Lombards, and Burgundians. Seven of them still
exist today in Europe.
Three of these Kingdoms were uprooted completely, while the other 7 form parts of modern Europe today.
18. Would the Kingdoms ever unite as one Kingdom again?
Dan 2:43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall MINGLE themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not CLEAVE one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
Note: The Kingdoms of the world shall never unite again. Many have tried [mingled]. Napoleon, Hitler, and modern rulers have all tried. But the
hand of God has intervened. They have been ever so close. Hitler once declared to his secretary "We need to change this prophecy". But we as Gods people realize no matter how hard they try it isn't going to work. The only NEW WORLD ORDER that will be established will be established by God.
19. What Kingdom does the stone cut without hands represent?
Dan 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of HEAVEN set up a kingdom
2Sa 22:2 And he said, The LORD is my ROCK, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
Mat 21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the Scriptures, The STONE which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?
Note: Jesus came to deliver the people of Israel as Daniel was told in Chapter 9. But the Jews did not put away there sins, instead they tried to establish their own method of salvation. One of bondage and works. Jesus will come again to take his people home shortly are you ready?
20. Why was Daniel shown this vision?
1 Samuel 2:30....for them that HONOUR me I will honor, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
Exo 20:6 And showing mercy unto thousands of them that LOVE me, and keep my commandments.
Joh 8:31-32 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my WORD, then are ye my DISCIPLES indeed; And ye shall KNOW the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
2Ti 2:15 STUDY to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
