Yes…Seventh-gay Adventism and Spiritualism

The bible is clear about homosexuality, however, there is a growing number who are questioning the plain statements of the word of God. This is becoming quite common.

For instance, Only last month, broadcast on NBC News, Kris Widmer who has been pastoring in the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists for 32 years wasoutspoken_widmers_01_2e54e2cf2ba6afa0bd0103b5039e55ac.nbcnews-fp-1200-800 shocked to receive a 10 page letter from his son confessing that he was a transvestite. As part of a new video by producer Daneen Aker and director Stephen Eyer who have also produced the movie “Seventh-gay Adventist” they share the story of Kris and his daughter Teagan, formerly known to Kris and others as his son Timothy.

His mother Debbie said”We would like the church to continue to grow and change and to become the community of Christ, where love is more important than law and people are more important than policy.”

Certainly there is no doubt that there could be a great strain on the family, and no doubt of God’s love and mercy towards homosexuals. The bible says to the Corinthians that “such were some of you” (1 Cor 6:11) That implies that God will forgive those who will give this sin to him. But it certainly doesn’t say “such are some of you.” As many seem to be interpreting the word today.

Is love more important than law as Debbie Widmer said? Or is “Love the fulfilling of the law” (Romans 13:8) Certainly it is wonderful that we love the sinner. Many of us have children that have done many sins. But of late, with respect to Seventh-day Adventism, homosexuality has become prevalent. We are not to lose hope for our children, however, we must respectfully address these issues from a biblical standpoint.

As in the Days of Noah and Lot

Jesus told us that the end times would be like the days of Noah and Lot. (Luke 17:27-29) What was it like in those days? We are told in the book of Genesis that “GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” (Genesis 6:5)

Jesus tells us that they were “marrying and giving in marriage” (Matt 24:38) but it wasn’t about being covenanted in spiritual relationships. It was about self-indulgence. We are told “the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.” (Genesis 6:2)

They saw something they wanted, whether beauty or lust, and they took it without consideration of the covenant requirements of God, such as that the two should be “one spirit.” (1 Cor 6:13-17) God gave the marriage institution Himself, and the marriage institution is honorable. We are told that “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD” (Proverbs 18:22) But it is not honorable if one is carnal, born after the flesh, and the other is born of spirit, a child of the most high, a “son of God” (Genesis 6:2) Is it honorable if your wife is a man?

Today it is becoming politically incorrect to distinguish between male and female in some cases, between ladies and gentlemen, between boys and girls. We’ve went so far as making laws for transgender bathrooms. In Canada Bill C-16 may be passed this summer which would forbid as hate speech someone calling another by the wrong gender and fines following of up to 250,000 dollars.

In Matthew 19:4-6 Jesus said “Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, (5) And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? (6) Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”

There are several things here to note. God joins them together, not a minister of the Lord, and neither Caesar. But this is God’s. We know that it was “male and female” not “male with male.”

Romans 1:27-28 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Certainly they don’t have “the mind of Christ.” (1 Cor 2:16) Unfortunately the evangelical Christian’s begged the State to step in and enforce marriage by law several years ago, and the State started issuing certificates for marriage. They gave to Caesar what is God’s. And then in the 90’s they brought in the Defence of Marriage act in order to make it illegal for the homosexuals to be able to marry.

The problem with that is that when Caesar or the state is given control of institutions such as the Sabbath and Marriage, Caesar sometimes likes to redefine what they mean rather than accept the meaning from the Bible where the term originated. For instance, to Caesar Sunday means Sabbath when the bible tells us that it is from Friday evening to Saturday evening.

In June of 2015 a law was signed that says that same sex marriage was now legalized. There are further laws that are made which prevent many churches today from beingn55dfw9zcvux able to speak against it. Some discrimination as well as persecution has resulted.

In the time of Sodom and Gomorrah homosexuality was rampant. Genesis records that all the men of Sodom, “both young and old,” surrounded Lot’s house and shouted “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them” (Genesis 19:5, NIV). It is shocking to read that not only the “old” but also the “young” were practicing homosexuality. We are told in Jude verse 7 that the judgment for this was fire and brimstone from heaven and that in many ways this is what it would be like in the end of the world.

It was prevalent everywhere as it is today. The numbers are increasing. NEWSWEEK reports that in the United States, “hundreds of gay groups operate on campuses around the country… At the University of Wisconsin at Madison, gay events are as commonplace as the homecoming football game. Perhaps 1,000 gays and lesbians live openly on the 40,000-student campus.”

Homosexuality Rampant in Seventh-day Adventism

In the 1998 winter issue of SCANNER, a newsletter published by the young adults of the Glendale City SDA Church, in Glendale, California, they made claims that “going by conservatives estimates, there are at least 5,000 gay Adventist in Southern California” (p. 9) In the issue there is an interview with Donald Freedman, who is an active member of the Glendale City SDA Church, and belongs “to an increasing number of Adventists who are open about being gay — a gay Adventist” (p. 9)

It is noteworthy that Mr. Freedman correlates homosexuality with women’s role in the church. He writes: “In our more recent times the issue of women within the church has been an issue that has been hotly debated…People really have to strain to find passages in Scripture that put down gay people” (p. 11).

The attempt by a “gay Adventist” to correlate homosexuality with women’s ordination is significant. And the bible is certainly clear that homosexuality is not only a forbidden sin, but it is an “abomination”. (Leviticus 18) This was several years ago, and what was it leading to? It confuses the functional roles between males and females which has led to the rejection of sexual role distinctions in the church. In the same way that same sex marriage is in the world.

Women’s Ordination and Gender Distinction

It was two years ago that we had a vote on the role of women in the church and women’s ordination. And though one group realized the biblical distinction in roles there have been major divisions and fractions since.

Since then many things are transpiring concerning the LGBT movement and we have yet to see where it is all leading. It was only last year that the Hollywood SDA Church appointed its first transgender elder. Rhonda Dinwiddle is his/her claimed name and she/he teaches the Sabbath school. “Rhonda” claims that the Akers movie Seventh-gay Adventists was a life-changing experience, and paved the way for him/her to join the Hollywood Adventist Church.download (1)

In June of last year Alice Machado was baptized into the Chico Seventh-day Adventist church in north central California where her ‘husband’ (Amber Machado) was already a baptized member. Yes, that’s right her husband Amber. That is a woman. The baptism was performed by Ginger Hanks Harwood, a former associate professor at the La Sierra University theology department.

Baptizing a practicing homosexual into the church. Ellen White spoke of a sexual epidemic in the book Testimonies on Sexual behavior where she wrote the following.

Sexual Sin Prevalent Leads to A Cage of Unclean and Hateful Birds

“They are coveting their neighbors’ wives, and the seventh commandment is broken. We are in danger of becoming a sister to fallen Babylon, of allowing our churches to become corrupted, and filled with every foul spirit, a cage for every unclean and hateful bird; and will we be clear unless we make decided movements to cure the existing evil?” {Testimonies on Sexual Behaviour 188}

That was written in 1886 with respect to sins that were happening in the church in that day. Coveting their neighbor’s wives was a sexual sin, but in 2017 there is an sexual epidemic taking place that is far worse. The bible tells us that Babylon falls because of her fornication with the kings of the earth. A sexual sin in itself. This use of State power to control the consciences of men and persecute those it deemed as heretics was the method of the Roman Catholic Church throughout the dark ages.

Well, the cleansing of the camp didn’t happen, the existing evils of 1886 came back, and as a result several homosexual Seventh-day Adventists were baptized into the church. Not only this, but they had an organization of their own using the name Seventh-day Adventist called Kinship Seventh-day Adventists. They have their own meetings which they call “kamp meetings” where these nominal Adventists come together for fun and frolic.

Well in 1980 this plague was rampant in the church, and the mainstream body called the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists trademarked the name Seventh-day Adventist under the United States government in an effort to stop the homosexual Adventists from using the name. A waiting process happened where there could be an appeal to the trademark, and by 1986 after the waiting process was unknown to most and over, they began litigation against the Seventh-day Adventist homosexual kinship group.

Well, going up to the Kings of the earth for help is not God’s idea of “curing the existing evil”. (See Revelation 18:1-4) And the Kinship group won in court against the General Conference and was able to keep the name after all of that. God wasn’t on the side of the Kinship group obviously. However, obviously God wasn’t on the side of the General conference because as a church in prophecy is a woman, she was playing the harlot in going to the United States government(kings of the earth) for help. And she lost. (Rev 18:2, 3)

If court was God’s way, then He would have easily won in court. But God was not in that method.

Isa 31:1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!

So they finally resorted to this very sin that Babylon is guilty of and was guilty of during the dark ages. That is to seek help from King Caesar.

In an attempt to secure unity last September, the General Conference has been making the attempt to take over the rebelling conferences. The reasoning behind it was because some divisions refuse to follow the decisions of the decision making board, and now, feeling there is no choice left, and hopeless, are feeling the need to resort to force. Sadly Ellen White said “Force is the last resort of every false religion” ( The Signs of the Times, May 6, 1897)

Can God bring it through now? “As reformers they had come out of the denominational churches, but they now act a part similar to that which the churches acted. We hoped that there would not be the necessity for another coming out.”—Ellen White ’88 356, 357 (1889)

Unclean Birds and Spiritualism

Now The Widmers are not alone in their struggles to reconcile their faith with LGBTQ identities. A Seventh-day Adventist pastor in Arizona recently stepped down from her position after coming out as bisexual which was all over the mainstream news as well, and all of this within the last couple months.

And just about one month before director Stephen Eyer director of the movie Seventh-gay Adventist was at the Green Lake Church in Seattle, where pastor John Mcclarty preached a sermon titled “What to do with real people.” The sermon set the stage for an afternoon viewing of the pro-gay Adventist movie Seventh-gay Adventist. In the sermon pastor Mcclarty tells us that some portions of the bible are to be rejected.

We were told that spiritualism would be a serious issue in these last days. In the garden of Eden several years ago, the devil came to Eve with the question “Hath God Said” (Genesis 3:1) And this questioning of God’s plain word and the plainest statements has been going on since the beginning. And what’s more is not only is he trying to get us to question the plain statements, but he twists them to mean the direct opposite of what they are. He can turn the words “thou shall surely die” into “thou shall not surely die” and make it look very “pleasant to the eyes.” (Genesis 3:4, 6)

And this was the very thing coming out of the pulpit at this meeting. Pastor Mcclarty said in his sermon “We came to some passages, and Linda Hibe would read this passage of scripture, and she would rare back and go… it’d be, you know, God said go kill somebody or something, I mean, you know, God said and Linda would go “That’s not right” Linda was right… If we are going to be faithful to God, there are times when we must push back against the ancient words.”

Did God say it? Hath God said? God is wrong if He commands justice? God is unjust? Where do these accusations originate? This seems to be the epidemic, trusting the plain statements in the word of God is becoming a thing of the past. Here is what we are told about spiritualism.

“Spiritualism is now changing its form, veiling some of its more objectionable and immoral features, and assuming a Christian guise. Formerly it denounced Christ and the Bible; now it professes to accept both. The Bible is interpreted in a manner that is attractive to the unrenewed heart, while its solemn and vital truths are made of no effect. A God of love is presented; but his justice, his denunciations of sin, the requirements of his holy law, are all kept out of sight. Pleasing, bewitching fables captivate the senses of those who do not make God’s word the foundation of their faith. Christ is as verily rejected as before; but Satan has so blinded the eyes of the people that the deception is not discerned. {Ellen White Spirit of Prophecy Vol. 4 Page 405}

This is what the devil did with the word in the garden of Eden. This is spiritualism, the dragon, Satan and his angels. And all this to make the truth of no effect. She says that “A God of love is presented…his justice, his denunciations of sin, the requirements of his holy law, are all kept out of sight.”

And that is what Satan seeks to attack in all of this. The justice of God. Why would pastor Mcclarty have an issue with God commanding justice? Because the justice of God denounces those sins, and we are told that those who would continue in sin would be destroyed, or were sometimes commanded by God to be destroyed.

Pastor Mcclarty mentioned the book of Samuel. Interestingly, In the book of 1 Samuel chapter 15 we are told of the story of Saul where God’s word is given to Saul.maxresdefault (1)

1 Samuel 15:1-3 Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the LORD. (2) Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. (3) Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

In this story we are told that Saul thought his understanding of justice to be better than God’s, and so the words of God were not regarded by him, and instead of listening and believing, and obeying the plain statements, he saved the king as well as the sheep and oxen alive. (1 Sam 15:13-22)

The word of God through Samuel was that ”thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.” (1 Sam 15:26) The word of God was plain, and the plain word was rejected by Saul, and after rejecting this the word of the LORD was not given to Saul anymore. He had disbelieved these statements to be from the LORD, and this was his unpardonable sin. He had spiritualized away the plain statement.

“But none need be deceived by the lying claims of spiritualism. God has given the world sufficient light to enable them to discover the snare. As already shown, the theory which forms the very foundation of spiritualism is at war with the plainest statements of Scripture.” (Great Controversy Page 556)

Pastor Mcclarty was giving a message that is from none other than the dragon and his angels, spiritualism. And that building is a cage of unclean birds, spirits of devils speaking through the minister. And the people seemed to be blinded to discerning the deception.

King Saul was at war with the plainest statements in the word of God was he not? After this disobedience Saul resorted to going to the witch of Endor, and was deceived by the spirits of devils. Like Pastor Mcclarty, Saul was fighting against the plain statements in the word of God, saying God was wrong in commanding justice. Was it wrong? Samuel understood it to be justice.

1 Samuel 15:32-33 Then said Samuel, Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past. (33) And Samuel said, As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal.

He understood what this king had done and what the nation was doing. Sometimes we don’t know all the circumstances, but we can be sure that God does. And we need to be very careful when questioning his justice. Sometimes we question some of these things in the Old Testament and say they are “wrong” because of our “low standard of right and justice.”

Notice the following from Ellen White.
“God’s love is represented in our day as being of such **a character as would forbid His destroying the sinner.** Men reason from their own low standard of right and justice. “Thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself” ( Psalm 50:21). They measure God by themselves. They reason as to how they would act under the circumstances and decide God would do as they imagine they would do…..

The plea may be made that a loving Father would not see His children suffering the punishment of God by fire while He had the power to relieve them. But God would, for the good of His subjects and for their safety, punish the transgressor. God does not work on the plan of man. He can do infinite justice that man has no right to do before his fellow man. Noah would have displeased God to have drowned one of the scoffers and mockers that harassed him, but God drowned the vast world. Lot would have had no right to inflict punishment on his sons-in-law, but God would do it in strict justice.

Who will say God will not do what He says He will do?”—Ellen White Manuscript Releases 12:207-209;

God said he would do these things. And He has, and He will. Who are we to question Him? Where does this question originate? “Hath God said?” (Genesis 3:1) Satan and his angels. We are questioning several of the plainest statements in scripture when we say God can’t kill, or command killing as if it is sin. When we start to make God sound unjust we are playing into the side of spiritualism and Satan in putting God on trial. We are not recognizing that sometimes in acts of mercy, in order to save some, he must destroy some.

“To our merciful God the act of punishment is a strange act. “As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live.” Ezekiel 33:11. The Lord is “merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, … forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin.” Yet He will “by no means clear the guilty.” Exodus 34:6, 7. While He does not delight in vengeance, He will execute judgment upon the transgressors of His law. He is forced to do this, to preserve the inhabitants of the earth from utter depravity and ruin. In order to save some He must cut off those who have become hardened in sin” {Ellen White Patriarchs and Prophets Page 628)

There is definitely a path here that many are being led down. The devil and his angels are at war with the plain statements in the word of God. And we are called to standScreenshot+2017-05-10+20.04.50 up and declare that “True and righteous are His judgments” and that there is no injustice with God. It is in love to the transgressor that He will execute judgment. But it was in love to the transgressor that He died to save from the penalty
