When does the day begin? – Reply

Recently someone shared with me several quotes from Ellen White about not rejecting new light.  And when does the day beginthey were saying that the Passover day began in the morning at sunrise, rather than sunset.  I’ve heard this teaching before from many who are accepting the lunar Sabbath teachings, and I thought I would post a short reply.   This is a brief answer  using actual quotes from the writings of sister White.

Regarding the Passover “DAY” and the Spirit of Prophecy.  Here are some clear quotes on the issue of when the Passover day is.

“These types were fulfilled, not only as to the event, but as to the time. On the fourteenth day of the first Jewish month, the very day and month on which for fifteen long centuries the Passover lamb had been slain, “Ellen G. White, The Great Controversy, p. 399.

Jesus was crucified on the Passover day, the 14th day.  What we need to know is did the 14th day start in the morning, or the night before?  In the study shared we were told that the Passover day begins in the morning and continues to the next morning.   Some quotes are used from sister Ellen White to prove this.  But what does sister White say regarding this day when Jesus was crucified?  Did it begin in the morning?

First I would assume we agree on the events that happened the night he was captured happening Thursday night.  Jesus ate the Passover with his disciples that night. (John 13-17)  Then he was captured after the Passover meal,(John 18) and crucified on Friday afternoon, which would be the 14th DAY as we read above.   What day did they gather to eat the Passover according to sister Whtie?

“They had gathered to celebrate the Passover. The Saviour desired to keep this feast alone with the twelve. He knew that His hour was come; He Himself was the true paschal lamb, and ON THE DAY the Passover was eaten He was to be sacrificed” Ellen G. White, Desire of Ages, p. 642.

If Jesus ate the Passover on the same day he was sacrificed, then we can quite simply conclude that the 14th day began the night before and not in the morning.

So the 14th is like this:

14th after sundown = Thursday night =  “the Passover was eaten”
14th  daylight = Friday afternoon =  “He was sacrificed”

Then he was taken off the cross before sundown, when the Sabbath began.   As she said “ON THE DAY the Passover was eaten He was to be sacrificed”.  Therefore we must understand that the 6th day started Thursday evening when they ate the Passover meal.  And in conclusion the Sabbath started at sundown Friday night, and ended the next sundown on Saturday night.

Gen_1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Lev 23:32 It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.

Hope that helps.  God bless.

My comments on ‘When does the day begin’
The Messiah was born in 3bc according to his star sign.
He began his ministry at age 30 in 28ad.
Three and a half years later he was crucified in 32ad on the fourteenth day
Passover which fell on a Monday April 14.
There was a blood moon on that day from the third hour to the sixth hour.
Throughout scripture EVENING is day light, not night time.
the evening and the morning are 12 hours not 24 hours.
‘Evening’ follows the morning it begins after midday and ends at last light.
‘Even’ is sunset according to scripture.
A thorough study of the Exodus weekend and the crucifixion weekend reveals
that the Sabbath fell on the 15th day each time.
Nissan 16 the third day Luk4:19-21 is the wave sheaf on the day following
the sabbath forever, it is always a first day of the week and therefore follows
the Sabbath which is always on the 15th day forever.
The Israelites marched out of Egypt after resting on the fifteenth day
according to Exodus12:16 and came out on the night following the fifteenth day
at night which was the 15th calendar night.Num33:3, Ex12:42
Every calendar day begins in the morning, the niight is the tail end of the day.

The seventh day Sabbath is a feast day Lev23:1,2 and falls on the same
calendar as all the other feast days.
The eighth day of Tabernacles is not part of the seven day feast, it is a
normal seventh day Sabbath, it always falls on the twenty second day of the
Rome’s calendar is an antichrist calendar we should have nothing to do with
it from when the time of trouble begins or sooner if possible.
So there is only one calendar, that of the creator governed by the Sun Moon
and Stars they are for signs, seasons, days, and years. the continuous cycle of
weeks is not tied to any of the luminaries at all and is contrary to scripture.
All who truthfully study the scriptures will understand the above and a lot more, there is too much to be revealed here.

    Kind Regards
