Are the 10 commandments the law of Moses?

Do you believe that only the remedial system or ceremonial law is the law of Moses?

Because here is what the bible says…The Bible says the law of Moses is the moral law of ten commandments in a few places. Firstly Deut 4-5 where the ten commandments are repeated….

10 Commandments are the law of Moses(Deu 4:44-5:22)

Deu 4:44 And this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel: Deu 4:45 These are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses spake unto the children of Israel, after they came forth out of Egypt, Deu 5:1 And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them. Deu 5:7 Thou shalt have none other gods before me. ETC…..

He goes on to give the 10 commandments. And he also talks about the Statutes and judgements that were given. This is very important, please read to the end.

Neh 9:13 Thou camest down also upon mount Sinai, and spakest with them from heaven, and gavest them right judgments, and true laws, good statutes and commandments: Neh 9:14 And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant:

The Rejection of the 1888 Message

EJ Waggoner had to correct GI Butler on this issue once shortly before 1888 when Butler had thought that the law of Moses referred to the Ceremonial Law and not the Moral Law. Waggoner went over the few verses Butler presented where Butler felt that the term “law of Moses” referred only to the Ceremonial law. Waggoner showed Butler the opposite that each place where Butler used the term “law of Moses” was actually speaking of the moral law instead, and some to the moral law alone. Here was Waggoner’s conclusion on the matter of the Law of Moses on referring to the Ceremonial Law.

Waggoner-Thus the terms, “the law of Moses,” and “the law of the Lord,” are used interchangeably of both laws.

“But there is still this distinction, that the ceremonial law was written only in the book, while the moral law was written on the tables of stone, with the finger of God, and also in a book. That the term, “the law of Moses,” does sometimes refer to the ten commandments, will be evident to anyone who will carefully read Deuteronomy 4:44 to 5:22 and onward; Joshua 23:6, 7; 1 Kings 2:3, 4; 2 Kings 23:24, 25, etc. See also Great Controversy, vol. 2, pp. 217, 218, beginning with last paragraph on page 217. On the other hand, the term “the law of the Lord” is applied to the ceremonial ordinances. For instance, see Luke 2:23, 24. Thus the terms, “the law of Moses,” and “the law of the Lord,” are used interchangeably of both laws.“(EJ Waggoner, Gospel in Galatians).

The law of God is the law of Moses and includes the ten commandments. If you have any bible texts that you think use the term “Law of Moses” to refer to the Ceremonial Law alone, I would greatly love to see them. And with careful study we would see that each time it is talking of the moral law or there is some reference to the moral law.

Malachi 4:4 tells us the “law of Moses” has special application to us today. “Remember the law of Moses” it wasn’t “nailed to the cross”.

Ellen White said that Malachi 4:4 should be carefully considered

“From the light which God has given me it would be for our advantage to study the directions given to Israel. (Read Malachi 4.) Verse 4 especially has a meaning which all have not comprehended. Let it be carefully considered.” {PH087 8.2}–E. G. White: Pamphlets -PH087 -Special Testimony to Battle Creek Church (1897).

What does Malachi 4:4 say?

Mal 4:4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

Remember the Law of Moses, with its statutes and judgments before the second coming….Important to God’s last day people, just like it was to Nehemiah and Ezra when they came out of Babylon…We are in a similar situation.

Part of the Elijah Message restoration of the law of Moses and the statutes and judgments

“The closing words of Malachi are a prophecy regarding the work that should be done preparatory to the first and the second advent of Christ. This prophecy is introduced with the admonition, “Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.” {SW, March 21, 1905 par. 1}–E. G. White: PERIODICALS / SW –The Southern Watchman -March 21, 1905 “In The Spirit and Power of Elias.”

Please everyone read this book by EJ Waggoner. See for yourself that we are far off the track if we are saying “the law of Moses was nailed to the cross”.
